The taste of the water from the spring fed well and the cool, crisp air at the elevation of 2,200 feet first brought the New York elite to the Tower Mountain House resort at the turn of the century. Nestled in Jewett, NY, the land was then purchased by the Kirkman Soap Company family. The Kirkman family farmed the land, built the barns, and operated a dairy farm on for several decades.
