HistoryErnest Thompson began building authentic, New Mexican furniture in his home garage over forty years ago. He sold his fine furnishings at local art shows and galleries throughout the region, opening his first workshop and showroom in Albuquerque's south valley in the early 1970's. The Ernest Thompson Brand has since evolved to include Ernest Thompson Cabinets, Taos Furniture, Southwest Spanish Craftsmen, Great Spaces, Santa Fe Custom Works and Sombraje Twig Shutters and FurnitureSpecialtiesAt Ernest Thompson, we take pride in handcrafting all of our custom furniture and cabinetry right here in our Albuquerque workshop, maintaining a New Mexico woodworking heritage that has existed for more than four centuries and we take great pride in being stewards of that tradition. Although we're proud of helping preserve woodworking techniques that stretch back to 1600, we're delighted to be creating furniture and cabinets for contemporary customers who value sophisticated design, craftsmanship and heirloom quality.
