The Public Works Department is governed by Los Alamos County. The department is responsible for administration, engineering, surveying, pavement, fleet and transportation management. It has completed various projects, including West Jemez Bypass, Central Avenue Pedestrian Crossings, Camp May Road Rehabilitation, and A-11 Characterization, Abatement and Demolition. Los Alamos County offers services, such as airport, atomic city transit, capital projects/facilities, fire department, elections/voting, environmental services, emergency management, public utilities and recycling/solid waste. Its handles various projects, comprising of capital, community development, council, economic development, environmental services, information technology, and parks and recreation.
