KNME is one of the leading public television and a broadcast channel, established in 1958, and is located in Albuquerque, N.M. The channel features a wide range of educational programs, and broadcasts classroom lectures from a makeshift studio in a converted sorority house. The station has been a nationally recognized educational service for more than 40 years, producing programs that have been broadcast nationwide, such as Tv Kindergarten, Surviving Columbus and Colores. KNME has been honored with the Emmy and the George Foster Peabody awards. The channel also provides production services to television producers from educational institutions and nonprofit organizations. The channel has partnered with various on the air services of the University of New Mexico and Albuquerque Public Schools.
