The New Mexico JATC for the Electrical Industry offers a comprehensive apprenticeship program that combines on-the-job training with classroom sessions, allowing apprentices to earn while they learn. Working with successful contractors throughout the state, the JATC provides apprentices with competitive wages, a great pension and medical plan, and the opportunity to earn college credit upon completion. Apprentices will become Inside Journeyman Wiremen, equipped with the skills and knowledge to work anywhere in the world where electrical work is available.
As an Inside Wireman, apprentices will install and maintain various electrical systems in commercial and industrial facilities, including lighting, receptacles, motors, heating equipment, and energy control systems. The program emphasizes the development of work ethic, discipline, and safety awareness, as electricians may work in physically demanding conditions and potentially hazardous environments. With experience, electricians can advance to positions of greater responsibility or even start their own electrical contracting business.
