History
The history of the High Country Lodge goes back to the early 1960's when it was known as the Ranchman's Inn. It was the local hangout for cowboys, ranchers, miners and the gents and ladies of the area. There was a large bar- the Monte Largo- with drinks and dancing. It could be quite a rough and tumble place! Over time, it became the Woman on the Mountain Inn serving gourmet dinners. Later, gearing its business to travelers and hunters, it became the High Country Lodge. There are still the overnight rooms, restaurant, and banquet room- formerly the bar and dance floor.
