Friends of the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad is a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation, interpretation, and restoration of the historic Cumbres and Toltec Scenic Railroad. Since its establishment in 1981, Friends has grown to include thousands of members, hundreds of annual volunteers, and a growing base of donors. They work tirelessly to preserve the railroad's assets and property, interpret its rich history, and maintain an extensive collection of historical photos.
As a member of Friends, individuals have the opportunity to participate in summer work sessions and other volunteer projects, as well as receive the quarterly CTS DISPATCH publication and invitations to special events. Volunteers can engage in various activities such as rolling stock and structure restoration, painting, landscaping, and serving as docents to share historical and regional facts with guests. With the support of generous donations, Friends of the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad continues to ensure the preservation and enjoyment of this national treasure for future generations.
