In late August 2010, I accepted the position of Associate Superintendent of Dulce Independent School District. I come to Dulce Schools with multiple years of experience in both academic and non-academic administrative experience in Indian Education. A greater part of my experience has been with Native American educational programs both locally and nationally. I accepted this position knowing that a tremendous opportunity exists to develop a learning environment that supported student success. I am a former teacher, administrator and school board member of a historical educational institution, United Navajo Methodist Mission School and had firsthand experience with guiding the education of young Native Americans entrusted to its care. As Associate Superintendent, I envision being part of a team that builds a legacy of academic excellence that can place Dulce Schools at the apex of scholarship and dedication to serving the Jicarilla people. My life's journey has provided me with invaluable experiences to participate in strategies that support Student Success. A review of the past four years of school data has shown that our work is cut out for us. Inasmuch as this is so, with a team of dedicated Nation Builders (teachers), support staff, parents and with the support of the school board, together we can begin building an academic program second to none.
