The Community Outreach Program for the Deaf - New Mexico (COPD) was established in 1982 with a federal establishment grant from its sister agency in Arizona. For 29 years, COPD provided a wide range of services to the Deaf and DeafBlind community in New Mexico, including support, interpreting, and outreach programs.
Throughout its existence, COPD served thousands of individuals and received support from state and federal partners, as well as various grants. Although COPD has ceased providing most of its services, it continues to offer interpreting services to meet the communication needs of the Deaf community in New Mexico.
