The Coalition to Stop Violence Against Native Women (CSVANW) is a tribal coalition based in Albuquerque, NM, dedicated to advocating for social change and ending violence against Native women and children in tribal communities. Founded in 1996 by Peggy Bird Kewa, Darlene Correa Laguna Pueblo, and Genne James Navajo, CSVANW provides support to Native advocates working in domestic violence, sexual assault, dating violence, stalking, and sex trafficking in New Mexico's tribal communities.
CSVANW focuses on shaping policy, conducting outreach, increasing awareness, and ensuring that tribal communities are represented in conversations where they have historically been underrepresented. They also organize and participate in various events, including community webinars, tribal leaders summits, and the annual #IWillRunForThem 5k. Membership is open to individuals and organizations interested in providing culturally appropriate training and education on domestic violence and sexual assault in tribal communities.
