In 1934, Roy E. Cline had an idea, build a Filling Station and Café at the intersection of then U.S. Highway 6 & 2 in the middle of New Mexico and people will stop, shop and eat. Never did he realize he would have to do it again in 1937 when the highway moved slightly north and renamed Route 66 & U.S. 285. But he did and today Clines Corners Retail Center sits at that same intersection where it has become not just a rest stop for weary travelers but a place to shop, dine at it’s full service restaurant or grab a quick Subway Sandwich and hit the highway.
From that tiny little gas station and café on the corner of Highways 6 & 2 Cline’s has grown in size to over 30,000 sq. ft. of retail and restaurant space in one location. Just outside the door on either side of the building, one can find two modern and nationally known brand Convenience Stores and Gas Stations providing both gas and diesel products (This is important to remember because Clines Corners Retail Center is located 50 miles in all directions from any major city).
The Curio Shop (New Mexico’s largest Gift Ship) located in the main building is Famous for it’s unique line of Southwestern Gifts. From the extremely sought after Painted Pony Collection, fine Leathers and Moccasins, Toys and toy guns for the kids, Tee Shirts and Baseball Caps and the exclusive authentic Indian Room, Cline’s has become not just a rest stop, but the place to stop for those hard to find Southwestern items. And do not forget our famous Homemade Fudge that customers from around the world rave about.
Over the years, Clines Corners Retail Center has had 5 owners and many additions and the development continues to this day. This summer of 2006, we will embark on our latest development of adding a new Truck Stop and increasing the size of our Gift Shop, as well as adding a new Food Court in our Restaurant area.
Clines Corners Retail Center is committed to providing our customers with the finest Southwestern Gifts, terrific hospitality and the best food in the Southwest.
