Elizabeth Cook, MD, FAAPMR is a member of Summit Health's Pain Management team. Dr. Cook is Mayo Clinic fellowship-trained in non-surgical orthopedics. She grew up in Essex County inspired by her father Dr. Jerry Cook, who was a beloved area orthopedic surgeon for decades. She is proud to return to her roots with over 20 years of extensive experience in the non-surgical, interventional management of orthopedic pain with a focus on the spine and spinal cord stimulation.Treating patients like family, ensuring their comfort, and treating conservatively when possible, are my main goals and care approach, says Dr. Cook.Dr. Cook received her medical degree from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia and was elected Chief Resident and served as Assistant Clinical Professor at Temple University/Moss Rehabilitation Hospital. She went on to complete a coveted fellowship in musculoskeletal rehabilitation at the world-renowned Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, before furthering her training in interventional pain management as a fellow/preceptor at the Center for Spine & Sports Rehabilitation in York, Pennsylvania. Dr. Cook stays up to date on research-based approaches to pain medicine and has served as site investigator in numerous national clinical studies in orthopedics, RFA (radiofrequency ablation), as well as in spinal cord stimulation for back pain, pelvic/abdominal pain, and peripheral neuropathy. She has lectured on opioid safety, and encourages patients to take an active role in their care. Her advanced technical expertise in therapeutic x-ray-guided interventions and multidisciplinary outlook allow a tailored approach to individuals' problems, while placing an emphasis on safety.Outside the office, she does her best to keep up with her twins. She enjoys learning acoustic guitar, ballroom and Latin dance, and is a foodie. She looks forward to filling the pages of her passport.
