The goal of the Westwood Recreation Department is to provide recreational services for all members of the community: children, adults and senior citizens. To achieve that goal, the department runs a number of programs for residents of all ages. There is a pre-school, a special needs program for children and a summer playground program based on children's ages for borough residents ages 4 through 14. The Westwood Recreation Department also runs a teen center out of the Westwood Community Center, where its offices are also located, that is available to all Westwood and Township of Washington residents in grades 7 through 10 free of charge.
The summer concert series and summer movies in the park offer residents a way to spend some time outdoors during the warm weather and be entertained at the same time. The sports groups the Westwood Recreation Department oversees allows individuals to stay active and learn sports skills. The senior van gives older residents and those with special needs a mode of transportation around town and to nearby communities.
