The newly renovated Watsessing Park is the fourth largest park in Essex County. Its name comes from the Lenni-Lenape Indian words for hill (Watschu) and stone (Assan). The tree-lined park, spread out between Bloomfield and East Orange, has three playgrounds, football, softball and soccer fields, basketball courts, a gazebo and a senior citizen recreation building. Winding paved pathways divide the park.

Esposito Park

A community favorite since its opening in 2008, the $2.9 million Esposito Park features skateparks, tennis courts, a softball/soccer field, a walking path, fitness stations, picnic areas, a massive jungle gym and restrooms. The park is named for the Esposito Family Farm, which was purchased by Union County Open Space, Recreation and Historic Preservation Trust Fund in 2003.

Harris Field

Harris Field comprises a baseball diamond, a playground and a basketball court. The Malverne Little League uses this park as its home playing field for many baseball and softball games. During league games, volunteers operate Mike and Sparky's Place, a refreshment stand located near the baseball diamond. The field is named after William Harris, who served as mayor of the village of Malverne in the 1940s during WWII. Harris was known for creating the Malverne War Council and encouraging support of the U.S.O. and Red Cross, and when the war ended, he focused on improving recreational facilities in the village.

Count Basie Park

Count Basie Park features numerous athletic fields for softball, baseball and soccer, as well as courts for basketball, a track and a permit-required football field with an artificial surface. County Basie Park – Red Bank's largest park – also has a playground for children and a small pond for fishing. It's accessible from a number of entrances. The athletic fields at the park are used by Red Bank Catholic High School's boys and girls sports teams. The private school pays the borough maintenance fees each year for the privilege of calling Count Basie Park home. The football field features a large stadium-seating area, too.
