Bureau of Housing, based in Elizabeth, N.J., is one of the divisions of the economic development department operated by the local government of the Union County in New Jersey. The bureau is supervised and controlled by the director of the division of planning and community development. Its responsibilities include preparation, facilitation and dissemination of housing issues of federal and state government. Bureau of Housing also performs all kinds of functions related to housing program implementation. The division also provides technical assistance to various agencies and municipalities in preparing applications for housing programs. It conducts and updates housing conditions analysis to determine the county s housing needs. Bureau of Housing is also responsible for the maintenance of liaisons with the state department of community affairs.
