The South Orange Symphony Orchestra, established in 1949, brings the joy of symphonic music to the South Orange community through three admission-free concerts per season at the South Orange Middle School. Comprised of a diverse mix of amateur and professional local musicians, the orchestra aims to provide musical education and exposure to all, collaborating with local organizations to enrich the South Orange Maplewood communities.
Under the leadership of conductor Susan Haig, the South Orange Symphony Orchestra showcases a repertoire of cherished symphonic works, featuring selections from past concerts such as Beethoven's Overture to Prometheus and Holst's Jupiter from The Planets. With a dedicated board and talented musicians, the orchestra continues to uphold its mission of bringing great music and musical opportunities to the local community.
