This old armory building is for the New Jersey Army National Guard, which consists of more than 9000 Guardsmen. Units have deployed to Iraq, Guantanamo Bay, Afghanistan, Germany and Egypt, as well as to assist with the recovery from Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans. The New Jersey Army National Guard is governed through the New Jersey Department of Military and Veteran's Affairs.
The New Jersey Army National Guard maintained the 50th Armored Division from 1946 to 1988. It contributed a New Jersey brigade to the42nd Infantry Division.
