MetLife Stadium is a stadium located in East Rutherford, New Jersey. MetLife Stadium currently houses two NFL teams the New York Jets and the New York Giants. The stadium opened as New Meadowlands Stadium on April 10, 2010 with the construction taking just over a two and a half years at a cost of just over $1.6 billion. Shortly after MetLife signed a 25-year naming rights deal. The stadium was built to replace the aging Giants Stadium.
The New York Giants are four time Super Bowl Champions and are members of the East Division of the National Football Conference within the NFL. They are known by their team colors consisting of blue, red, gray and white. The current owners of the New York Giants are John Mara and Steve Tisch.
The New York Jets are one time Super Bowl Champions and are members of the East Division of the American Football Conference within the NFL. They are known by there team colors consisting of green and white. The current owner of the New York Jets is Woody Johnson.
The stadium currently holds 82,566 fans. There are 218 luxury suites and over 10,000 seats at the club level. Currently, it was the largest stadium in the NFL. MetLife Stadium is also a great venue for concerts and has hosted such musicians as Bon Jovi, Taylor Swift and Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band.
MetLife Stadium will be the first outdoor stadium not meeting the NFL requirements for February temperature average to host the Super Bowl in 2014. The stadium was given a one-time exception.
The majority of tickets for Jets and Giant’s games are sold out and there is an extensive waitlist for season tickets. However, Jet’s fans can sign up for an opportunity to purchase 300-level individual game tickets before the general public. Giant’s fans can typically find available tickets at ticket exchanges.
