Meals on Wheels, established in 1966, is one of the first meal delivery programs in New Jersey. It delivers meals to individuals aged 60 and older. The program serves homebound individuals and people with physical and mental disabilities. Meals on Wheels covers the Berkeley Heights, Millburn, New Providence, Springfield and Short Hills areas in New Jersey. It offers pureed, renal and cardiac diets. The program is operated by Sage Eldercare, which is a private, nonprofit organization that focuses on the health, happiness and general welfare of senior citizens and their families. The organization provides more than 10 programs and serves over 5,000 elders and their families annually in Union, Morris, Somerset and Essex counties in New Jersey.
