The Little Silver Volunteer Fire Company No. 1 was first formed in 1906 after the devastation of Gibbon's barn fire that resulted in the deaths of four horses, four cows, a dog and 10,000 dollars worth of damage. Forty people met at Church Hall in Little Silver two weeks later to begin work organizing a new fire company and, because of this, the Little Silver Volunteer Fire Company has served the borough of Little Silver for more than a hundred years. The Little Silver Volunteer Fire Company is also best known for making sure that every child in Little Silver who wants a present from Santa Claus gets one each holiday season.
