About Lanza's Martial Arts The Dream of the husband and wife team of Richard and Maria Lanza became a reality, when in September 1995 they opened Lanza's Martial Arts. The Lanza's have been involved in the Martial Arts for more than 16 years. Training in the United States Black Cat Kenpo a traditional form of Okinawan Kenpo. After earning their Black Belts, they both taught in two local Martial Arts Schools before pursuing their dream. During their years of training the Lanza's have been on local television shows promoting the benefits of the Martial Arts, and they have also continued to seek knowledge by attending numerous seminars held by World Renown Black Belt Hall of Fame Instructors. Including Grand Master Jhoon Rhee, Grand Master George Dillman, Professor Wally Jay, Grand Master Remy Presas, Shidoshi-Ho Will Maer, Master Leon Jay, and the World Champion Kick Boxer Kathy Long and Joe Lewis. With the instruction of Grand Master George Dillman, the Lanza's have been training in the art of Kyusho-Jitsu ( Pressure Point Fighting ) and Bunki ( Breaking down traditional kata ) for the purpose of learning self defense, which has been hidden in kata for hundreds of years. Since 1991 the Lanza's have been training with Grand Master Remy Presas in the art of Modern Arnis ( Filipino Stick Fighting ) and have hosted numerous Arnis seminars at their Dojo featuring Grand Master Presas. Lanza's Martial Arts is a 4800 SQ. FT. facility located in Freehold, NJ a Modern Dojo with all the State of the Arts training aides including the Swain Sports Mats which were used during the 1996 Olympic Games. The high energy classes along with the unique and diversified training techniques is helping make a name for Lanza's Martial Arts in the community. After only four years in business enrollment is growing on a daily basis. Maria and Richard Lanza have been married for 22 years and have two children Nicole 20 and Richard Jr. 19. Besides practicing the Martial Arts Richard Lanza has also run the New York City Marathon and the Washington D.C. Marathon. Richard Jr. has also been training with his parents for the past 14 years, and is also a Black Belt Instructor. ( 1995 )
