How to get to the Hereford Inlet Lighthouse
The Hereford Inlet Lighthouse is located on Central Avenue in North Wildwood, New Jersey. Unlike most lighthouses, it is not nestled directly on the shoreline though the gardens do back up to the seawall. The lighthouse is actually attached directly to the keeper's Victorian home, which now serves as a museum. The best way to travel to the lighthouse is by car since it not accessible by any public transportation such as bus or train. There is a parking lot for visitors at the lighthouse. However, if it is filled, parking on the adjacent streets is generally readily available.

Wildwood is an extremely popular summertime vacation spot along the Jersey Shore. The prime season along the shore is from Memorial Day through Labor Day with weekends drawing larger crowds. The Hereford Inlet Lighthouse is open daily year-round from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. with the last tour ticket being issued at 4 p.m. Visitors are asked to pay a small admission fee with children eleven years of age and under being charged a discounted price. Group rates are available for schools, tours, and larger parties. A visit to the lighthouse is free for Members of the Friends of the Hereford Inlet Lighthouse, members of the New Jersey Lighthouse Society, and active members of the United States Coast Guard. Visitors may enjoy the garden or browse at the gift shop without paying an admission fee.
