History
Rudy and Mary Cervenka moved to the farm in 1920 from New York City. Rudy was born in the Czech Republic and fought for the U.S. Army in WWI. After being exposed to mustard gas in the War, he moved out to the country for fresh air. That was when Cervenka farm began. Their son, Gerald Cervenka was born in 1925 and farmed the 138 acres of land until 2012. Today Jerry's son George continues the family tradition, raising vegetables, soy beans, and rye. Jerry's wife Marge operates the farm stand business with help from her two daughters, Kathy and Cheryl. The stand was started by the two daughters when they were little one summer day. They rode their bikes to the end of their farm lane, turned over a few peach baskets and sold some extra tomatoes off an old barn board. Over the years, Cervenka's have sold their tomatoes to Campbell's Soup Company and pumpkins to Mrs. Smith's Pies. Throughout the years Cervenka grandchildren & great grandchildren lend a hand in the field and stand.
