The borough clerk sits at borough council meetings, where she takes notes and files those minutes for its records. She processes and files borough-adopted resolutions and ordinances, works to issue a variety of permits—dog licenses and marriage permits are among them—and registers new voters.
She also puts advertisements in local publications about upcoming municipal activities, such as meetings and public hearings. A variety of books that focus on Chatham's history are on sale in the clerk's second floor offices.
The borough's clerk is Susan Caljean.
