Descendants of early settlers of Mays Landing, N.J., planted what is now Balic Winery, a vineyard since the early 1900s. After migrating to the United States, Savo Balic;, a former vine-grower from the Adriatic Sea, brought a European accent to the American winemaking scene by acquiring the 57-acre vineyard in 1966. Balic Winery makes more than 27 award-winning wines. The company s wine list consists of dry red, dry white, cream red, cream white, rose, pomegranate, berry, aperitif and sparkling wines. Every year, Balic Winery participates in several wine tasting events and festivals. Recently, Balic Winery had about 2,000 to 3,000 cases or 30,000 to 40,000 bottles of wine in storage from the previous year's crop.
