Founded in 1960, Aqua New Jersey was created by the merger of several individual water companies owned by Consumers Water Company. The company serves more than 160,000 people in over 15 municipalities. It also supplies wastewater to nearly 4,000 customers. Aqua New Jersey has more than 45 wells and over 15 public water systems, as well as nearly 550 miles long transmission lines. The company operates through a staff of more than 50 employees. Its regulatory agencies are the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities and New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection. Aqua New Jersey is a part of Aqua America, which provides water and wastewater services to over 3 million people in nearly 10 U.S states.
