The Student Conservation Association, founded in 1957 and headquartered in Charlestown, N.H., is a nonprofit nationwide force of high school and college-age volunteers committed to protecting and preserving the environment. The association has an annual membership of more than 3,000 members and over 50,000 alumni. It offers internships, conservation jobs and crew experiences to meet environmental challenges while gaining hands-on field experience. It completes projects in every conservation discipline, ranging from archaeology to zoology. The association has locations in all U.S. states and in three countries. Its projects include more than 400 locations in the United States, such as Glacier National Park, Pacific Crest Trail, Cape Cod National Seashore and Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
