Each patient is unique and has a very personal story. I always begin my care for patients by taking the time to really understand who they are. I want to learn their particular history and current situation, their motivations, their expectations and their goals. By having these conversations, we can create a treatment plan that takes into consideration the particularities of their situation. Establishing a human bond with my patients and understanding who they are has a tremendous therapeutic effect that may be less measurable by conventional standards but is nevertheless felt in the healing process. Over the years, I have learned tremendously from my patients. I can sum up my philosophy of care by quoting Hippocrates: "Heal sometimes, treat often, comfort always."
