Founded in 1971 and located in Carson City, Nev., Western Nevada Community College is a community college, serving more than 6,000 students in each semester. The college offers over 50 academic degrees and certificates in a wide range of areas, including engineering and construction technology, nursing, musical theatre, golf facilities management, geographic information systems, criminal justice and graphic design. It also provides specialized training programs in machine tool, drafting, electronics, welding certification, supervisory training, and computer applications and other occupational areas. It operates various academic departments, including accounting, architecture, automotive, biology, business management and administration, computer science, dietetics, economics, engineering, emergency medical services, English, financial services, geographic information systems, horticulture, and industrial engineering technology. The college also provides a variety of athletics, such as football, tennis, volleyball, golf, Cross Country, wrestling, basketball, soccer, and softball. Western Nevada Community College is accredited by the Northwest Association of Schools and of Colleges and Universities.
