With special events being an exception, it is possible to walk-in to the Stratosphere and get a decent room. Its location separated from the hustle of the Strip means it isn't one of the more popular vacationing spots.
The rooms at the Stratosphere offer a contemporary stay without being too luxurious. Basic rooms are well decorated, but don't offer the highest end amenities. Guests that don't mind spending a bit more for the VIP treatment will enjoy the Presidential, VIP, and Penthouse suites.

Outside of the 80,000 sq ft casino floor, the Stratosphere offers an array of entertainment. The Tower itself houses a small, circular shopping strip with apparel shops and the city's only "Haunted Arcade," which is perfect for a younger crowd.
Towards the top of the Tower, thrill-seekers can enjoy four different death-defying rides, including the Sky Jump bungee jump, the free-falling Big Shot, the X-Scream teeter-totter that dangles you over the tower's edge, and Insanity, the mechanical arm that spins its riders at speeds up to three "G"s 64 ft over the edge of the tower.

There is no general good or bad time to book your stay at the Stratosphere, though, being a Las Vegas resort, it's always best to come anytime between May and October. Even high atop the tower, you'll be treated to a refreshing breeze, something that may be a bit too frigid during the stretch of November and February.

The Stratosphere provides its own on-site parking in an attached parking garage. For public transportation, taxis let out right at the hotel's main entrance while the Deuce SDX bus line offers the closest drop off with a 2-minute walk to the main entrance.

If you head south on Las Vegas Blvd, you're going to find plenty to do on Sahara. A large gift shop, Bonanza Gifts, houses an oversized collection of Las Vegas trinkets and souvenirs while the SLS Hotel and Casino and the Artisan Hotel, located east and west of Las Vegas Blvd on Sahara respectively, provide accessible nightlife entertainment. Head north on Las Vegas Blvd for a little over one mile and you will be at the famed Gold and Silver Pawn Shop, best known for being the location for reality TV show, Pawn Stars.
Insider tip for visitors to The Stratosphere Casino, Hotel and Tower
If you're looking for to gain access to the Tower's observation deck and have yet to eat dinner, combine the two at the Top of the World restaurant. Not only will you get a 360 panoramic view of Vegas and the surrounding valley in a slowly rotating dining room, but you will also gain access to the observation deck itself, which normally has admission starting at $10.
