The Southern Nevada Senior Law Program (SLP) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that provides no-cost legal services to seniors aged 60 and older in Southern Nevada. Established in 1978, SLP is funded by grants from the Nevada Aging and Disability Services Division, the State Bar of Nevada Foundation, Bank of Nevada, and community contributions. With a mission to empower seniors through legal assistance, SLP has served over 125,000 vulnerable seniors, offering services such as evictions, housing and real property, health care power of attorney, wills, basic estate planning, elder exploitation and abuse, consumer assistance, and government benefits.
SLP's Senior Advocates Pro Bono Program, recognized by the Nevada Supreme Court, encourages probate and estate attorneys to volunteer their services or make donations to support the organization. This program expedites the completion of estate planning documents for clients not facing urgent circumstances, with volunteer attorneys of varying experience levels working to serve more seniors efficiently. Attorney volunteers also have the opportunity to earn continuing legal education (CLE) credits through SLP. By providing essential legal services to low-income seniors, SLP plays a vital role in protecting the rights and well-being of the elderly population in the Las Vegas community.
