The Sierra High Notes is a community chorus based in Reno, NV, offering a welcoming and inclusive environment for singers of all levels and ages. With a repertoire spanning from the 1960s to the 2000s, the choir performs a variety of genres, including country, patriotic, Broadway, and holiday songs. Led by Music Director Eric Kao, the Sierra High Notes holds two seasons of rehearsals and concerts each year, with a focus on learning exciting choral music and spreading the joy of song through outreach gigs for veterans, seniors, and non-profit organizations.
The choir operates on a membership basis, with no audition required to join. However, the Music Director may assess each singer's voice to determine the appropriate placement. Members are expected to pay seasonal dues to help cover administrative costs, and fundraising efforts are encouraged to keep the dues affordable. Rehearsals take place on Wednesdays at 7pm, and the Sierra High Notes also engage in community initiatives, such as partnering with GotSneakers to recycle unwanted sneakers and organizing performances for Artown, a local arts festival.
