The Nevada Department of Transportation s District I serves the residents of southern Nevada and operates a maintenance station. The department, governed by the State of Nevada, was established in 1917. It is responsible for the planning, construction, operation and maintenance of more than 5,400 miles of highway and over 1,000 bridges. The Nevada Department of Transportation also oversees various allied projects. In addition, the department compiles data and produces a variety of reports for public information. It operates administration, planning, engineering and operations divisions. The Nevada Department of Transportation is responsible for the programming of federal and state funding for a range of transportation improvement projects across the state.
