Established in 1904 as an agricultural and ranching community, the City of Fernley in Nevada has a population of more than 20,000 residents. The city covers an area of over 104,900 acres. It operates a public works department that is responsible for the maintenance and improvement of streets, curbs, traffic signals, sidewalks, gutter, and storm and sewer lift stations. The city also governs a finance department that offers payroll, accounts payable, fund accounting, internal financial reporting, internal audit, and water and sewer billing solutions. It also manages fire, parks and recreation, social services, planning and zoning, and water and sewer services departments.
