The Office of the Secretary of State is operated by the government of the state of Nevada. It maintains the official records of the acts of the state legislature and the executive branch of state government. The office operates various divisions, including, business, licensing, election and securities. The Office of the Secretary of State registers associations, corporations, partnerships, limited liability companies and business trusts, as well as trade names and trademarks. Its election division certifies candidates, registers and files candidate contribution and expenditure reports, supervises elections, and reports and certifies the results of general elections. Additionally, the office registers securities dealers, brokers and investment advisors through its securities division. The Office of the Secretary of State maintains a location in Carson City, Nev.
