History
The Thai Pepper restaurant first opened in June 1994, when it transformed a building that once housed a Pizza Hut at 127th and Q Street into a destination for lovers of flavorful, spicy food of Thailand. For Nina and Nita Kay. sisters who grew up in the northern Thai city of Chiangmai, opening this restaurant was something they had wanted to do for a long time. The Kay's family sold the Thai Pepper at the Q Street location to Tassanai Kiatkaiwansiri on August 1, 2006. Tassanai had long dreamed of owning a restaurant ever since he worked for Nina and Nita at the Thai Pepper. Tassanai named his restaurant at 127th & Q Street Tas's Thai Pepper and expanded his menu to more dishes. He offered a warm and comfortable atmosphere and Tas's Thai Pepper became a very popular destination for everyone from couples and families to office colleagues to large parties celebrating special occasions.
