The Kearney Finance and Administration Department operates through accounting and finance, information systems, and utility billing and collections divisions. Its accounting and finance division is responsible for monitoring and accounting for all financial transactions of the city, as well as processing payments to vendors, and reconciling payments to the general ledger. The Kearney Finance and Administration Department performs payroll, accounts payable and receivable, special assessment and cashiering functions. Its information systems division oversees computer, telephone and data network systems and provides support to city staff, as well as assists user departments in various special projects throughout the year. The Kearney Finance and Administration Department also manages and analyzes the city s financial data and reports to provide financial information for all departments in accordance with legal requirements and general accounting principles.
