Established in 1967, the Nebraska Department of Economic Development is the official lead economic development agency for Nebraska. The department operates a business development division that provides assistance to communities with business and economic development programs and represents statewide interests in retaining, expanding and recruiting businesses. Its community and rural development division offers technical and financial services through community-targeted programs. The Nebraska Department of Economic Development also maintains an administration and operations division that provides fiscal, human resources, marketing and public information services. It serves the transportation, manufacturing and technology industries.
