Burt County Public Power District, founded in 1935, was recognized as a rural utility. It provided the first transmission line to serve the District in 1942. The District provides qualified personnel to address issues dealing with conservation, rates, power supply and electrical safety. Burt County PPD offers automatic meter reading to its customers. This meter is applied to the service, which communicates with a computer at the end of each month. It offers the Rural Electric Nebraskan Magazine, which is an informational publication for its customers. It informs the consumers of changes going on within the District concerning policies, rates, construction, safety and other items of interest. It is headquartered in Tekamah, Neb.
