Hawthorne Elementary is a public, coeducational institution that enrolls more than 350 students in kindergarten through grade five. It was named after Nathaniel Hawthorne, who was a novelist and short story writer in New England. Hawthorne Elementary is a Title I school that offers a variety of academic courses, such as reading, music, art, mathematics, social studies, physical education and science. Its family resource center supports literacy and education through fun activities, lending libraries, community services and learning opportunities. The school also offers free or reduced-price meal program for eligible children. Hawthorne Elementary is a part of Missoula County Public Schools and is located in Missoula, Mont.
