St. Louis Forestry Division is a subsidiary of the City of St. Louis Department of Parks, Recreation, & Forestry. The tree section of the forestry division is responsible for the planting, removal, and maintenance of all trees in city parks, median strips, and more than 150,000 street trees. Each year it plants and removes approximately 3,000 street trees. The division also undertakes a comprehensive reforestation programs to identify, design, and plant trees for the city parks and conducts a district trim program. The forestry division inspects more than 20,000 trees per year. The weed control section is responsible for the maintenance of more than 4,000 city-owned lots and highway easements, including grass cutting and debris removal and Project Greenlot, that involves vacant lot cleaning, grading, and seeding to make continued maintenance easier.
