Chiazo Shirley Amene, MD
As a general neurosurgeon, with fellowship training in skull base neurosurgery, my passion revolves around the management of brain disorders in and around the base of the brain, including pituitary tumors, acoustic neuromas, other benign or cancerous tumors and also disorders like trigeminal neuralgia. The diagnosis of a brain tumor or the need for some form of brain surgery is usually a very terrifying prospect for a patient and the idea is to be with the patient and caregiver every step of the way. From a multidisciplinary approach to the treatment of brain tumors with collaborations between myself, radiation-oncologists and oncologists, to the multi-modality treatment of trigeminal neuralgia and on down to the management of spinal disorders, my goal is to ensure that the patient has the best care possible and has the tools to better make decisions to improve not just their long term outcomes but their quality of life.
