Macon Municipal Utilities (MMU) is a community-owned utility company that has been serving the residents of Macon, MO since 1890. As a founding member of the Missouri Public Energy Pool (MoPEP), MMU sources its electricity from a diverse portfolio that includes clean coal, natural gas, wind, solar, hydro, and landfill gas.
With Long Branch Lake as its water supply, MMU played a role in its development in the 1970s. The treatment plant provides water to both residential, commercial, and industrial customers within the city limits, as well as selling sixty percent of its water to customers outside the city limits.
