Hermann Oak Leather Company owns and operates a full-service leather tannery. The company, which is based in St. Louis, uses only prime grade, heavy United States native steer hides. Hermann Oak Leather Company s tanning process has changed since Louis Charles Hermann originally formulated it in 1881. However, the company still uses natural tree bark in its tanning liquors for richness and texture. The leather is then tanned until it is firm, strong and tight-fibered. Hermann s products include harnesses, drum-dyed harnesses, saddle skirting, rawhide, miscellaneous leathers, English bridles, straps, waist belts, holsters and pet leashes.
