Established in 1979, the Gibson Recovery Center is a nonprofit organization that provides training, counseling and education for individuals on topics related to substance abuse. It offers treatment services to more than 1,600 individuals every year. The center provides 24-hour detoxification services. The Gibson Recovery Center administers a residential treatment program that includes medical and educational lectures, relapse prevention, and individual, group and family therapies. It is funded by contracts with the Division of Alcohol and Drug Abuse, Department of Mental Health and Missouri Foundation for Health, as well as donations from individuals, churches and organizations. The center is certified by the Missouri Department of Mental Health (DMH). The Gibson Recovery Center is located in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
