Gateway Metro Credit Union is owned by its' members; so any profits the credit union makes are passed back to the members in the form of better interest rates and lower service charges.
Members get to decide who runs the company by voting for the board of directors, who are also members. Once a person becomes a member, they are in for life even if they move, change jobs or retire. Members just need to keep at least a $5 balance in their share savings account at all times.
Membership is open to anyone who lives, works (or regularly conducts business in), worships or attends school in St. Louis city or county or St. Charles County and businesses and other legal entities located in those areas. Family members of those individuals are also eligible to join.
