Communicable Disease Control is a division of the Saint Louis County Department of Health. The division provides health-related information on various communicable diseases, such as aseptic meningitis, campylobacter, giardiasis, hepatitis C, pertussis, salmonellosis, shigellosis, rabies, meningococcal infection and tuberculosis. It additionally offers basic information on sexually transmitted diseases, including Chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis, trichomoniasis, HIV, herpes and genital warts. The division is responsible for the development of programs that provides awareness related to personal hygiene, emergency preparedness, vector control, and food preparation and storage. Communicable Disease Control offers immunization, disease prevention campaigning, outbreak control, and HIV counseling and testing services. The Saint Louis County Department of Health also operates environmental safety, health education and medical service divisions.
