Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union County, a 153-bed facility located in New Albany, Miss., was voted Best Hospital (under 100 beds) by the Mississippi Nurses Association and the Mississippi Nurses Foundation in 2008. Baptist Union County serves the fast-growing Union County community, ranked No. 41 in 2006 in Progressive Farmer Magazine's list of the top places to live in the Southeast. After becoming part of Baptist Memorial Health Care in 1987, Baptist Union County completed a 70,000-square-foot expansion and renovation project in 1993 that included a new bed tower, surgical and recovery suites, emergency department and convenient patient loading areas. The women's center, renovated in 2008, features advanced birthing facilities, including 10 labor/delivery/recovery rooms, 28 private postpartum rooms and two surgical suites for Caesarean sections. Each year, more than 1,100 babies are born at Baptist Union County.
