The Special Education program is a part of the Special Services Department of the Petal School District. The department has a staff of more than 40 teachers and over five speech language pathologists. It serves nearly 700 students between the ages of 3 and 21. The department provides inclusion, tutorial, resource, self-contained and community-based programs. It also offers profound and developmentally delayed preschool programs and day treatment and behavior classes. Additionally, the department provides homebound services. The district s schools provide individual and group counseling services. The Petal School District provides learning opportunities in kindergarten through grade 12. It operates primary, elementary, upper elementary, middle and high schools. The district also operates athletics, business, child nutrition, human resource and police departments.
