Milwaukee Electric Tool Corporation is a manufacturer and marketer of heavy-duty, portable electric power tools and accessories for professional users worldwide. The company was established in 1924 around the Hole-Shooter, one of the first lightweight, portable, one-handed capacity drills. The company then designed a space-efficient right-angle drill in 1949, one of the first self-contained portable electric hacksaws named the Sawzall in 1951 and the Hole-Hawg high-torque drill in 1970, all of which became industry standards for contractors. Customers include plumbers, electricians, builders, remodelers, welders, cabinetmakers and maintenance personnel. It sells its power tools and accessories worldwide primarily through tool distributors, home centers and hardware stores, as well as through specialty suppliers, catalog companies and Web-based retail firms. It is a subsidiary of Atlas Copco North America, a leader in compressors, generators, construction and mining equipment, industrial tools, assembly systems and equipment rental.
